1. Bengal

Embroidery - kantha [make with running stitch]

Uses on - bed sheet, blanket,saree, salwar,suits, etc

Fabric – silk, cotton.

Fabric color –white and red

Designs use for embroidery –tress, human figures birds, paisley, animal.

2. Bihar

Embroidery – sujini kantha [running stitch]

Zari work [chain stitch]

khatwa [appliqué work] kashida

Fabric color –red, white, yellow, green , blue, black,  orange.

Designs use for embroidery- animal, birds, flowers, traditional motif, mithla, etc.

3. Karnataka

  Embroidery - guanti {gantu- kannard]} murgi [ zigzag, singal, running stitch].
Negi { toweave } [ kannard lenga]
Methi [ cross stitch ].
Fabric type - casement .
Fabric colour -   any light colour  of your choice.
Thread colour - red, yellow, inky blue, orange, purple,etc.
Design for  embroidery- animal , ethnic, architecture,etc.

4. Gujarat

Embroidery - Kutch[chain Stitch, buttonhole]
Kathiwari [harring bone, mirror work].
Sindh [interlacing].
Fabric type - casement fabric.
Fabric colour - any light colour of your choice.
Thread colour- any bright colour .
Uses- wallhagings, doormats,cushion,cover etc.
Design  for embroidery- birds,tree, parrot, peacock, elephant etc.

5.uttar Pradesh

Embroidery- Chikankari
Stitches- running stitch, button hole, eyelet .
Fabric type- fine cotton, Muslim,shut, chiffon, Georgette, silk, etc.
Fabric colour- off-white and white.
Design for embroidery- paisley ,etc.

6. Himachal Pradesh

Embroidery- Chambo rumal
Stitches - double satin,stem, button hole.
Fabric type - cotton, {unbleached fabric }
Fabric colour- white, crime.
Thread colour- any bright  colour .
Uses- wallhagings , doormats, cushions  cover, table cover, carpet home, furnishing.
Design for embroidery-  bride, Krishan Lila, kaila.

7. Manipur

Embroidery- applique work, hijaya, mayek.
Stitches- chain mirror, eyelet,stem.
Fabric type - cotton.
Fabric colour -  dark colour  like; red and black.
Design for Embroidery- natural birds, geometrical shapes.

8. Punjab

Embroidery-  pulkari, chaddon ,Bagh, chope.
Stitches- stem, chain, herring bone, double running, satin, button hole.
Design for Embroidery- geometrical shapes, flowers chain ( fern ) .

9. Rajasthan

Embroidery- folk , mochi Bharat,here bharay, applique work.
Stitches- chain, button hole, running.
Fabric type- khaddar , light weight cotton, woollen, untwisted.
Design for Embroidery- animal, floral , human figure.

10. Kashmir

Embroidery- kashida { suni needle work }
Stitch- stem.
Design for Embroidery- flowers, craplers and  chinar leave, mango paisley ,etc.
Thread colour - any three. Colour in one design / motif.

Stitches- chain , stem, harring bone, button hole, running , etc.
